Sweetheart Sleep

Every night before I go to my bed I always take one last look at all my girl's. I make sure they are covered nice and snug under their blankets. I take the book Joslyn falls asleep with and I return it back to her backpack. I take the dsi game Allison was playing before she fell asleep and return it to the charger. I check on Moriah, turn the volume on classical music that plays in her cd player. Last night I had the desire to take a picture of all 3 sleeping sweethearts! I stood over each girl and just stared at them for a few seconds. I thanked God for the comfy, warm bed each of my girl's has. I thanked God for each room my girl's have. So many children go to bed each night without a bed to sleep on, with out a blanket to keep them warm or a pillow to lay their head on. We are truly beyond blessed! Praise God for his many, many blessings!
Matthew 19:14
Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these."

Marriage Mondays~New Promotion New Prayers!

I found Marriage Mondays on Come Have a Peace blog.
This past Friday Philip was promoted to a higher rank in the US Army. As with any promotion in the work force, with his rank comes more responsibility and more work. He is now a squad leader. He is responsible for 6 other soldiers. With this new leadership position Philip has a lot more paper work. Counseling statements for each soldier, evaluation forms, awards, etc. This means more work will have to be brought home and completed here at home. Philip's day begins at 5:25am and he comes home around 6pm. Sometimes he is able to come home for lunch. I look forward to Philip coming home every evening. He helps out so much with Moriah, the dinner dishes, Joslyn and Allison, and we usually try to watch a movie together before bed. With his new rank I know sometimes his work will take the place of our movie before bed. I am going to have to remind myself of how much Philip wanted this promotion and what a blessing this promotion is to our family. I have a prayer journal I keep. I bought a journal a few months ago. I wanted to keep a record of the prayers I have prayed over Philip and I wanted to record how God answered my prayers.

I am going to add another prayer to my journal. I pray that Philip will not become overwhelmed with work. I pray that he will continue to have the desire to spend quality time with his family and intimate time with me. I am going to pray that God will help me to be the wife that Philip needs me to be when work becomes stressful. I am going to keep the house clean. I want Philip to come home to a nice clean house. Keep the refigerator and pantry stocked with food he likes. Have myself all made-up for him too. It makes me feel pretty too when I have cute clothes on, my hair fixed and make-up on. I will try my hardest to have dinner ready when he comes home from work and have the kids in bed by 8:30 no later than 9pm (Moriah will be asleep no later than 10pm, fingers crossed) Spending time in prayer with God always gives me great comfort and so much encouragement! So I am praying for my motivation as well! This is my Marriage Monday.

Sunday Funday!

What a beautiful day we had today. The sun was shining, the sky was clear and the air was cool. Our friend's, the Conwells came to church today too. The sermon was on Mark 9:17-21 We need to trust and have faith in our Savior! We were able to visit with the Conwell's after church while our kids snacked on fruits and drank juice in the fellowship hall. After church we had bible study. We finished up our study on Fireproof Your Marriage. It was a 6 week study. We recieved study books with weekly homework and we were also given the Love Dare book! Next Sunday we will begin a new bible study on the book of Revelations. Revelations has always scared me a bit. I really haven't spent much time in Revelations. So this study will be interesting. After church we made a quick run to the PX and bought a present for Allison's friend, Jaden. We went to the bowling alley again today for Jaden's 9th birthday party (we were at the bowling alley yesterday for Allison's cheer party). We had a great time visiting with friend's and visiting with Philip's co-workers. After the birthday party we went back to the PX and bought the girl's Easter dress and new swimming suits. Hopefully next weekend we will be able to go to the Silvana. When we came home (which was about 4pm) the girl's changed their clothes and rushed for the door and ran outside to meet up with their friends! Tonight Philip and I are going to watch the movie after the girl's are in bed! Have a Funday this Sunday!

Allison had a wonderful season of cheering at all the basketball games! She really enjoys cheering! I'm so happy she had this experience. Way to go Allison!!

Staff Sergeant Windhorst!

Philip was promoted to Staff Sergeant (SSG) this afternoon. The ceremony took place in front of his company's building. Philip's entire company was in attendance (Charlie Company of 172nd Support Battalion) Allison took off Philip's old rank of Sergeant!

Joslyn put on Philip's new rank of Staff Sergeant!

I put on Philip's patrol cap. His patrol cap has his new rank on it.

We are so proud of Philip and his well deserved promotion!

Not Much Going on Today

I don't have much planned for today. I am going to the commissary to get some ingredients I need for dinner tonight. Italian Herb Chicken in the crock pot. I am thinking about maybe running my car through the car wash. However I looked on weatherchannel.com and we may have a snow shower on Saturday. So I'm not sure if I will wash my car or wait until next week. This week is Dr. Seuss Week at the girl's school. Monday was crazy hat day. Allison wore a candy corn hat and Joslyn didn't want to participate (she is at that age now). Tuesday was stripes day. Both girl's wore striped turtlenecks. Today is green day. Joslyn and Allison are wearing green shirts. Tomorrow is crazy socks day. On Friday the kids can dress like any Dr. Seuss character. Allison is all game. She wants to dress up like the character on the cover of the book The Foot Book (Thanks Susan Pennington for the book)! So later this afternoon I will run up to the kid's toy store around the corner from us and see what they have. Maybe look around for some orange pants and orange shirt. At times like these is when I especially would like to be back in the states. Here is a picture of Philip wearing his new glasses/goggles to work (the army calls it Protective Gear). We are still not sure when his promotion ceremony will happen. It will be sometime this month. Have a wonderful Wednesday!

Joslyn and The Miami Heat

This winter season Joslyn and a few of her friends were brave enough to play basketball, a sport they had never played before. When the basketball season first started back in November Joslyn and her friends were some what excited. Joslyn and her 3 friends were sure they would all be on the same team together. When the list of teams and players were posted on the gym wall all 4 girls were devastated. Joslyn and her friends were on 4 different teams. They all waned to quit basketball right then and there. However each mother was able to convince our daughters to stick it out and finish the season. Joslyn grew to really enjoy basketball. Practices were every Tuesday and Thursday from 4:30-6pm. I was able to drop Joslyn and her friends off at practice and another parent would drop her off at home. Games were on Saturdays. She learned a lot about the sport, improved her game, and was not ready for the basketball season to come to an end. I'm proud of Joslyn and her dedication (she always made sure I was ready to leave our house at 4:15 for fear of having to run extra laps if she was late to practice)and her strong desire to be better at basketball. Joslyn's team, The Miami Heat finished the season 8-1!! They went to the playoffs and lost the 2nd game.
Saturday the team had a pizza party at the bowling alley. Joslyn's coach, Coach Jackson gave each player a medal and trophy!
