Thank you's

Today we went to the store to buy "Thank You" cards. Joslyn and Allison went straight to work writing their Thank you notes to family and friends back home for the Christmas presents they were given.


The girls put some of their Christmas money together and bought a really good movie, "The Last Mimzy" I really liked the movie, I had never seen it before. Joslyn and Allison saw it while we were in San Antonio this past summer with their dad. They really liked it and wanted to buy it.

New Book

My mother-in-law sent me a book for Christmas. Its titled The Shack Let you know what I think when I'm done reading it!

Video Teleconference with Philip!

Our first teleconference with Philip was scheduled on Christmas Eve, but there was a bad connection in Iraq so it was canceled. We were then told to show up yesterday at the headquarters. The girls and I went and found out the teleconference was canceled again. I recieved a phone call and email last night and today we were going to try again for the video teleconference. The girls and I made the trip back to headquarters again today and I was told I cannot talk to my husband about anything dealing with the military. So after waiting for about 20 minutes and visiting with other wives waiting to talk to their husbands it was finally our turn! We walked into a huge conference room with Philip on a huge projector! We were able to talk and see Philip with a very small delay. The girls were so impressed! Philip, the girls and I had never done anything like this before so we were all pretty amazed. It was a fun, great, yet a fast 5 minutes!

Welcome to the Kitchen with Chef Joslyn!

Joslyn wanted to cook something for us tonight. I suggested "Pigs in a Blanket". She put on her Chef outfit and went straight to work! She had a fabulous time! I set the oven temperature for Joslyn and then stayed out of her way, but watched (and took pictures) of her from a distance! She just loves being in the kitchen and working with her hands! By the way, the "Pigs in the Blanket" came out delicious!

Christmas Break

I'm trying to keep the girl's busy and entertained during this Christmas break. Today we went bowling and had lunch at the bowling alley. Joslyn invited her really good friend, Mia to come along with us. We plan on going back to the bowling alley sometime this week and improve our scores!

Christmas Day and the Day After!

Christmas Day the girls woke up to a lot of presents under the tree from Santa and from momma and Philip. They had a wonderful time opening all their presents like any child would! This year was so different from any other Christmas we have ever had, so far from all our family and closest friends. We made the most of the day and I think everything turned out nice and we had a very enjoyable Christmas! Philip called and talked to the girls and I, my parents were able to get on the web cam with us, talked to my best friend and my in-laws on the phone as well. The girls also recieved a phone call from their dad. We had a nice Christmas! Joslyn on her powered scooter races Allison on her bicycle (Allison was faster, not by much though!) Joslyn jumped right on the scooter and was riding it around like a pro!

Christmas Eve 2008!

Pretty Nice Day!

Yesterday the girls and I went downtown and did a little shopping. The sun was out and shining bright! We stopped in a little ice cream shop and the girls had ice cream cones and I had a coke. We came home, got all of our laundry done (YES!) Joslyn and Allison helped me out soooo much, I had them running up and down the stairs...remember we live on the 2nd floor but we have 3 flights of stairs between our apartment and the basement where the laundry room is. So with a little incentive (I paid the girls an extra dollar on top of their weekly allowance)to help me with cleaning up the community laundry room.
Joslyn and I took Allison to her last rehearsal for the Christmas pageant. Then Joslyn and I had dinner together (Allison always has dinner at her practices)and then I dropped Joslyn off at her friends house for a little play time. We had a really nice day!

Curling Iron+ Hairspray= Lots of Curls!

Today I practiced curling the girls hair for Christmas Eve. I began curling Joslyn's hair at noon and finished up Allison's hair at 3pm! After curling, spraying, a burn mark on my forearm, and 3 hours later, I'm not sure if Joslyn and Allison will want to go through the whole process again in a couple days. We'll see!

Battalion Christmas Party

Last night the girls and I went to Philip's Battalion Christmas Party. Only a few husband's were there since nearly all the men are deployed so there were a lot of women and children! Santa came and gave presents to the kids. The arts-and-craft table was a real hit for the girls! The girls made sooo many crafts. Santa hats, stockings, magnets, cards...and each craft was decorated with glitter (it was an experience carrying everything to the car and trying not to mess-up their art work)! It was very nice and we had fun!
