Seussical Jr. Performance

Philip took Joslyn and Allison to the Seussical Jr performance at the theater down the street from our neighborhood. Allison had a lot of friends from school and church that were in the play.

I'm so glad they went to see the performance. (Joslyn didn't want to go. She wanted to stay outside and play with her friends. I think she is happy she did end up going!).
Moriah went to bed at about 8pm. Philip, Joslyn and Allison came home at about 9pm. We popped some popcorn and watched the movie Shorts!

Science Fair and Inventions!!

Joslyn and her classmates were assigned a BIG assignment! They had to come up with an invention!! Not only did she have to come up with an idea for an invention, but she also had to make a live model. I was sooo nervous! Thank goodness Joslyn came up with an idea that wasn't so "high tech". She saw a problem in our house and came up with a solution to the problem, Soapy Suds Rug Bug! The girls are outside everyday, rain or shine, snow or heat. They always (hopefully) take off their shoes before they come into the house to prevent muddy, wet, dirty tracks throughout the house. Joslyn invented a rug that will clean the bottom of shoes. Therefore no one will have to take off their shoes before they enter the house!
I bought a $3.99 rug, my friend Becky let me have an old spray bottle, and Philip took the scrub brush from my cleaning supplies basket. I am sooo thankful Philip was here to help put the invention together! Joslyn did a WONDERFUL job on her invention and on the backboard for her invention. Unfortunately Joslyn did not place at the fair, but she most certainly won 1st place in our home!!

Joslyn was also apart of the Dance Team for the Science Fair. The dancers got everyone pumped about the science fair show! I have videos of Joslyn dancing on stage on our flickr website
Allison also participated in the Science Fair. She tested the growth of molding bread. She experiment which slice of bread would grow faster and more mold- a dry slice of bread or a slice of bread with 40 small drops of water. The conclusion was the dry bread. Allison and her class did most of their paper work on their science projects at school. I'm proud of my girls! They did an AWESOME job!!

Friday morning Allison was awarded the Wilbur Award. She did realy, really good reading about 15 books this past grading period! We are so proud of Allison! Congratulations Allison! We love you!

Catch up on Blogging!

I've slacked off a bit with my blogging, but I'm ready to catch you up on our lives! Last Friday Allison and her classmates traveled to Bamberg (Germany) for a study trip. I follow the buses to Bamberg and my friend Becky rode with me. Moriah came along too. The weather was awful. It was raining and cold. We saw a lot of historical buildings, had lunch in the market, did some souvenir shopping and took an hour long boat ride on the Christi down the Main River. Allison had a wonderful and fun time!

On Sunday I went to Becky's baby shower. Becky and I met in January or February of last year. Both of our husbands were deployed when we met. She was buying little outfits for Moriah before Moriah was even born. Becky is 6 months pregnant and her family is moving to Graf (another Army post here in Germany that is about 2 hours away)

Joslyn is working on her invention. I will post pictures of her invention at the Science Fair next week. Allison is working on her science project and studying mold. I will post pictures of her project as well.
Construction has begun on our street! The construction workers are fixing all the streets in our neighborhood. They are working on every other street at the moment. The workers start all the loud machinery at about 6am. They take an hour lunch and finish work for the day at 4pm. I can not wait until our street is complete! Right now we are parking our vehicles behind our building.

It's May and it's still pretty chilly over here! Today the high was in the upper 50's. We have had rain and a lot of clouds for the past few weeks. I think everyone living here is ready for the sun to shine again! The weather reports are expecting sunshine this weekend and through out next week!! I really enjoy the sunshine!

Count Down to the Last Day of School

Joslyn and Allison are counting down the days to the last day of school. Joslyn came up with the idea to make a paper chain. Each link on the chain represents a day of school left in this school year. The girl's made the paper chain themselves. I hung the chain from the ceiling next to the backpack/coat rack. Everyday when they come home from school and hang up their coats and backpacks they cut a link from the chain.

Joslyn and Allison are only counting the days of the week and not the weekends. I think this was a creative idea! Joslyn and Allison have 25 more days of school left!

Mother's Day Weekend!

This weekend started with a BEAUTIFUL Mother's Day Tea program from Allison and her 3rd grade classmates on Friday. Allison handed me an invitation to the program on Wednesday. The program began at 8:30am Friday morning. There were Mother's Day Books read, the cutest songs sung from the kids to all the mother's, and funny, sweet skits put on by the kids for all of us mother's! After the program the kids all came out into the audience and handed each of their mother's a single rose! It was the cutest program ever! I really enjoyed it! I ordered a DVD of the program and I can't wait to get it. I am going to watch it all the time! Allison is sooo sweet! I love her sooo much!!

Friday was also Spouse Appreciation Day and the military community gave every spouse a free ice cream Sunday at the PX. Philip came home from work Friday evening and suprised me with beautiful flowers!

On Saturday Philip, Allison, Moriah and I went to the local flea market (Joslyn went to play at a friend's) We found so many beautiful things at the flea market. We bought a new Bavarian China set (we live in the state of Bavaria),

We can't wait to go to the next big flea market in July. Philip and I have already decided to wake up early and spend the whole day shopping for good deals and Christmas presents to send back home! We have the date circled on our calendars!!
On Sunday, Mother's Day the girls and I went to church (still praying Philip will join us one day soon) The Chaplin at church handed all the kids a rose to give to their mother's it was so sweet. The Chaplin asked Allison to name 2 special things about her mother and held the microphone up to Allison. Allison answered, "My Mom is pretty and brave"! She melted my heart as well as everyone else!!
After church we went to eat brunch at the Conn Club. It was delicious!

When we came home Joslyn and Allison brought out all the Mother's Day cards and gifts they had made at school and home. Their presents were so touching. I just love homemade cards and gifts from my girl's they are the sweetest and best gifts ever!!

I wish I could have spent Mother's Day with my mom. I was able to Skype with her for about 2 hours. I had an AMAZING weekend!! Thank you to Joslyn, Allison, Moriah and Philip for making it so special!!

Marriage Monday - My Husband's Faith

Philip was going to church with us regularly, but has stop attending church just recently. I was so happy to have my husband with us on Sunday mornings. We have been married close to 5 1/2 years. I can probably count each time Philip has been to church with us throughout the 5 1/2 years we have been married. So when Philip came home from Iraq this 3rd time and began going to church with us, I was ecstatic! After church one Sunday we went shopping and Philip began picking out clothes and shoes just for church. I was beside myself! That was a wonderful site to see! I began to wonder why God had answered so many of my prayers in such a short amount of time (I really began to cover Philip in prayer in May 2008)Here it was just shy of 2 years and God had answered almost all the prayers I prayed over Philip! As I was praying I thought it would be years before I saw dramatic changes in Philip. I was so thankful yet didn't think I was so deserving of God's grace.
Well Philip soon stopped going to church with us. First he gave excuses for not going with us to church, then he just decided that church is not for him. I'm so sad. Philip faith in God is so small and it worries me. I have to remind myself of the bible verse: "Because you have so little faith. I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you." Matthew 17:20 I will continue to pray for Philip and his faith in our Savior! I am sure one day Philip will THIRST for God's Word! Please pray for my husband too!

Begining of a New Week and New Month!

Allison had a good friend spend the night at our house last night. Allison's friend, Samantha went to church with us this morning. After church the girl's went to Sunday School while I went to Bible Study. We are studying the book of Revelations. I have always avoided reading this book. It has so much symbolism, it talks about the end of the world (that scares me, even as a child of God), there is just a lot in Revelations that I never really understood so I just didn't read it. I am thankful for this Bible Study. It really helps me understand more of Revelations and the symbolism. I don't think 1 hour a week for about 9 weeks is long enough to study Revelations. I hope sometime in the near future I am able to join another class and study more of this book of the Bible. The book we are using as a study guide is Breaking The Code by Bruce M. Metzger

After church, Bible Study and Sunday School the girls and I went to eat at Subway. I had a coupon for 3 free 6 inch sub sandwiches! After lunch the girl's and I hit the PX. The girl's went to pick out Mother's Day cards for Grandma and for me. I went to see what new clothes they had in my size. Joslyn and Allison each used their pre-paid debit cards. They have both finally memorized their pin #'s. When we came home Joslyn and Allison changed their clothes and ran outside to meet up with their friends. Philip took care of Moriah while I laid down for an hour nap. Philip also went grocery shopping for us!!!Thank you so very much Philip (I know you read my blog ;) He came home with the groceries and put them all away too! Love you so much Philip, You awesome Husband you!!
We were invited to a friend's son's 1st birthday party yesterday. On our way to the birthday party we saw some of the local German's celebrating May Day. We saw the German Fire Fighters raise the May Tree in front of the Rathaus, or the city hall building. You can see the fire fighters at the trunk of the tree. You can also see the ribbons hanging from the tree branches. I think that being able to witness a German tradition in a small German town was a great experience!

Here is a picture of Moriah pulling a string from the pinata at Jr's 1st birthday party. Moriah pulled the string that let all the candy fall from the pinata!!
